“Now in these dread latter days of the old violent beloved U.S.A. and of the Christ-forgetting Christ-hanuted death-dealing Western world I came to myself in a grove of young pines and the question came to me: has it happened at last?”

“Now in these dread latter days of the old violent beloved U.S.A. and of the Christ-forgetting Christ-haunted death-dealing Western world I came to myself in a grove of young pines and the question came to me: has it happened at last?
Two more hours should tell the story. One way or the other. I sit against a young pine, broken out in hives and wait for the end of the world. The carbine lies across my lap.
Undoubtedly something is about to happen.
Or is it that something has stopped happening?
Is it that God has at last removed his blessing from the U.S.A. and what we feel now is just the clank of the old historical machinery, the sudden jerking ahead of the roller-coaster cars as the chain catches hold and carries us back into history with its ordinary catastrophes, carries us out and up toward the brink from that felicitous and privileged siding where even unbelievers admitted that if it was not God who blessed the U.S.A., then at least some great good luck had befallen us, and that now the blessing or the luck is over, the machinery clanks, the chain catches hold, and the cars jerk forward?”
Sheep! Heavy stuff!
I remember in 2010, I and my friend were reading Harvard professor and prolific author Niall Ferguson´s article on the Potential Collapse of the US Empire. It freaked the willies out of us! He mentioned several points, some of which include the Roman Empire´s similarities to the US: an overstretched military all over the place, a broken economy, cockiness and overconfidence, a failure to keep up with core values that they had once held on to, etc.
A longer lecture on this topic:
Niall´s ideas jives with Jared Diamond´s predictions in Collapse.
A society on the verge of collapse shows the following signs:
Diamond identifies five factors that contribute to collapse: climate change, hostile neighbors, collapse of essential trading partners, environmental problems, and failure to adapt to environmental issues.
He also lists 12 environmental problems facing mankind today. The first eight have historically contributed to the collapse of past societies:
- Deforestation and habitat destruction
- Soil problems (erosion, salinization, and soil fertility losses)
- Water management problems
- Effects of introduced species on native species
- Increased per-capita impact of people
Further, he says four new factors may contribute to the weakening and collapse of present and future societies:
- Anthropogenic climate change
- Buildup of toxins in the environment
- Energy shortages
- Full human utilization of the Earth’s photosynthetic capacity

Here is his new map of the US:
Here´s a video on it:
In my younger years, I hated the US for its warmongerism. But then I studied Turtle Island (North American) history and found out that we Northerners (Canadians) had oppressed the First Nations/Native Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Punjabis from India, Hawaiians, etc. just as much as the Americans. Whoever is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone. Why do you fail to look at the log in your own eye, and simply keep focusing on the splinter in your brother´s eye? Good question.
Guess what? If South Turtle Island (the US) goes, we in North Turtle Island (Canada) will go with it! Do not rejoice when your enemy falls!!! Actually, the US is NOT my enemy, and I really don´t want to see her go down. Even my own grandpa from Bergen, Norway, first emigrated to Chicago. After 3 years as a Machinist there, he got suckered into the Canadian government promo in Chicago newspapers that they would give free land to anyone who squatted on it for a few years (I forgot how long….maybe between 3 to 5 years).
The Canadian government forgot to mention that they had stolen the land from the First Nations, and wanted to fill up the West with warm bodies, European bodies, that is. Anyways, Grandpa Oskar was probably not too savvy in terms of Canadian history, politics and society, so he and his Norskie buddy ventured up to North Turtle Island. After a few years, he returned to Norway to find a bride nearly 20 years younger than himself (the dirty old man!!!!! hoho) from a small fishing village named Tro, halfway up the coast. It´s a wonder he and Grandma Emma didn´t move to Bella Coola, British Columbia, where some other Norskies took over First Nations land there. I have one Bella Coola First Nations friend who updated me on the situation there. Anyways, Gramps chose Saskatchewan, so the roots of both me, my dad and son are from there.
Getting back to the USA: Well, there you have it. I have a stake in the Obama Land. Plus the fact that the US is 15 minutes from my house. Cheesehead Canucks (Canadians, North Turtle Islanders) are always going down ¨across the line¨ to get cheap gas, cheese, milk, beer, clothes, etc. I have other connections with USA (in jest, this is pronounced ¨Oooosaaa¨, also in French ¨Où ça?¨, meaning Where is it?), but we won´t get into that here. This blog post is already getting too long, n´est-ce pas?
In another post, when I get time, I would like to explore the Sacred Scripture´s description of the latter day Babylon, such as in the book of Revelation. Is it the US? Or the West in general? Or the entire global capitalist system built over the years by the Anglo-American Alliance?
Here are some more links regarding America´s collapse from different perspectives, Left and Right Axe-grinders, etc. etc. If I can I.D. the bias, I´ll write it; if not, you figure it out:
