We Need a Revolution in Turtle Island (North America)

That´s it.  I am formally going to advocate revolution in Canada, North Turtle Island, and in the US, South Turtle Island.  Not the kind with bombings and cells and hatred and killing.  But a re – LOVE -ution, a Revolution of Love.

Why?

Well, every day there are new reasons.  Here are today´s:

Employers fracking around with employees:

Sexual harassment / abusing single mother / taking advantage of hungry immigrants:

– I have an Asian client, a single mother, who is so-so pretty (at least I think) whose boss with the PhD and the big company had been touching her, trying to seduce her.  He said, ¨There aren´t many jobs out there.  So you stay here in my company.  You have an OK salary.  I give you benefits.  I will offer you some side jobs for extra money.  But please be my girlfriend.  My wife won´t find out.  Nor will my children.  Hush hush and let´s have some fun!¨  She consistently refused, even though with her admin and language skills she was bringing in a lot of money into the company.  Bye-bye, you are laid off.

– The same client has a friend who met a Caucasian Canadian who said he could help her get work at his company.  When he met her, he said, ¨You know, I am lonely.  If I give you the job info, could you please first become my girlfriend?¨

I am anti-war and anti-violence, and pro-Neighbour-Love.  If I could meet this fellow, what shall I do?  I know what my mind is thinking, but what non-violent, socially just thing could I do to him?  Simply pray?  Or . . .

Racial discrimination against immigrants:

– I had a Mexican client.  He was in reno.  He needed to drive the company truck to the next job site.  The Caucasian boss says no.  Why not, asked my client.  You are Mexican.  Everyone knows Mexicans can´t drive.

No wonder some First Nations and immigrants would like to ship me and my compatriots back to Europe!

Forcing people into unsafe working conditions / Huge corporations treating people like Skat:

 – I just a front page article in today´s (Sunday´s) Vancouver Province newpaper.  Peter Kiewit and Sons is the American company that has a deep friendship with the leaders of our Liberal party and BC majority government, the one that has gotten huge projects such as the Port Mann Bridge, the Sky-to-Sea Connector from Vancouver to Whistler, and the upcoming Pattulo Bridge project (probably).

Well, there is a DEAD YOUNG MAN whose body is rotting in the grave because of Kiewit company´s negligence.

Here is the Province´s version, called Reckless Disregard: Examining the Workplace Death of Sam Fitzpatrick.  http://www.theprovince.com/news/Reckless+disregard+Examining+workplace+death+Fitzpatrick/6612488/story.html

The story: Basically, a young guy named Sam was working on a jack hammer on the side of the mountain.  It had been pouring rain.  The mountainside was unstable.  A boulder had fallen down recently and nearly hit some men.  But, on this particular day, another boulder came loose, started careening down the mountain toward Sam.  His brother Arlen and co-worker both were below, saw the rock coming, and tried in vain to warn Sam over the sounds of the jack hammer.  Boom.  Blood splattered everywhere.  The back of Sam´s skull was gone.  The other workers held Arlen back so he couldn´t go up and see the mess.

Kiewit was taken to court by the Workers´ Compensation Board.  They claimed that the boulder had not been dislodged by the uphill excavator.  The American foreman who had a history of sending his workers into death-defying situations was not fired, but simply sent to work on another project in BC.  (Here is the Worker’s Compensation Board report for Sam Fitzpatrick)

I guess foreign companies may have a bit LESS concern for the safety of Canadians.  Why?  Well . . . they are only here for the money.  Not to altruistically give poor and desperate Canadians jobs.  Sure, the BC government could have given a Canadian company the job, and that local company could end up being just as reckless and irresponsible.  But typically, when your only stake in another land is $$$, well, you would like to get by with the least amount of fuss.

Check out this series of videos about the PSYCHOLOGY OF CORPORATIONS on Youtube, from a famous documentary made in my hometown of Vancouver, Salish (Brit) Columbia.  Kiewit & Sons fits right into the video´s scenarios.

Admit it, Kiewit: legally, your bottom line is to maximise profits for your shareholders AT ANY COST, INCLUDING SACRIFICING ONE YOUNG MAN´S LIFE.

Do you have any proof otherwise?  Come on, let us all see it then!!!

Every time I drive over your damned* freeway exit or bridge, I will REMEMBER what your lax safety policies have done to Sam Fitzpatrick!!!!!!!

* PLEASE NOTE all fun – to – be – mental – ists of all religions, especially Christians, that ¨damned¨ means ¨cursed¨.  In the case of the Sacred Scriptures, here are some verses showing that Yahweh curses people like Kiewit who ignore safety standards resulting in the death of innocents:

Deuteronomy 27:19 of the Books of Moses, Old Testament (KJV): 19 Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Psalm 119:2 – You have rebuked the proud who are cursed, who wander from your commandments.

Isaiah 5:8 – Cursed are those who are joining house to house, and putting field to field, till there is no more living-space for any but themselves in all the land!

Isaiah 5:20 – Cursed are those who give the name of good to evil, and of evil to what is good: who make light dark, and dark light: who make bitter sweet, and sweet bitter!

Isaiah 5:21 – Cursed are those who seem wise to themselves, and who take pride in their knowledge!

SKIPPING ALONG TO THE NEW TESTAMENT (we need to budget our space, no?):

Matthew 25 (NIV):
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. ”

PLEASE NOTE: This is not to say that all is lost.  If Kiewit & Sons´ REPENT, that means change their attitude toward Yahweh, through Yah´s Son Yeshua who is ultimately the ONLY WAY to reach the Creator of the universe.  And Kiewit & Sons´ must not only love Yah with all their heart, soul & strength, but also love their neighbours, which includes their staff (including people like Sam Fitzpatrick!!!) and customers (us, the Salish Columbian taxpayers), they can avoid attracting Yahweh´s Curse, and gain His Blessing!  THERE IS HOPE!  CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE, KIEWIT!

CONSTRUCTION WORKER SAFETY AT TOBA INLET PROJECT

G. Gentner: I rise today in memory of Samuel Joseph Fitzpatrick, who died three years ago today. At a young age he and his brother hired on as rock scalers for the Sea to Sky Highway upgrade.

Rock scalers clear loose debris and secure anchors. They rappel down rock faces with manual power tools. They read rock formations, set blasting charges sometimes, hanging on rock, tightening retainer bolts, applying shotcrete. It’s all very dangerous work.

While working with a hand drill, Sammy, at the age of 24, was struck and killed by a large boulder that rolled down the hill at the Toba Inlet run-of-the-river project. His mother writes: “Sam was my oldest son. He was very courageous and daring, very kind and funny. He was a hard worker, he was honest, and he was growing into a fine young man. His loss is a huge void in all our lives.”

The day before, a similar incident had occurred at the job. In WorkSafe B.C. hearings his father stated that his sons didn’t want to work that day on the site, as they felt it wasn’t safe. His mother said Sam and Arlen, being young workers and anxious to please, went ahead and complied with the work order.

WorkSafe B.C. reports: “The employer was reckless and grossly negligent with respect to obvious hazards. It is clear that simple enforcement and basic supervision would have prevented the fatality which occurred.” Last July Kiewit was fined $250,000 for seven violations. While the family grieves and attempts to move on, the company is now appealing the decision.

I pay homage to the Sam Fitzpatricks who have helped build this province and to a death three years ago today, mourned by those who painfully wait once again on a decision that will never bring Sammy home.

I took this from Guy Gentner’s webpage.  He is an MLA (BC gov’t) from Delta North, just near Vancouver, BC.  Here it is:To read more about the recent fines levied by WorksafeBC in the death of Samuel Fitzpatrick, click on link http://bit.ly/FOkY79

SO……

Kiewit & Sons’: Kiewit Named One of the Best Employers for Recent Graduates.  Huh???

Here is their Standard of Ethics which they claim is ‘MORE THAN WORDS ON PAPER”.

Here is a snippet:

 OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

Nobody Gets Hurt. When it comes to safety, these three words are our bottom line.  At Kiewit, we care about our coworkers and take seriously our responsibility to keep each other safe on the job.  We expect you to do the same, and to speak up when you see someone working unsafely or it you believe something isn’t up to our safety standards.  We ask those in leadership positions to play an active role in creating a safe environment.  And we encourage you to use Kiewit’s proven tools to be actively engaged in safety.

Ironic or WHAT?  I guess Sam was the exception.  Gotta hurry to get those BC government projects done on time, eh?  Tax payer money on the line, eh?   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All this to say:

BRIAN FITZPATRICK: I also grieve for your son Sam.

ARLEN: I mourn for you guys.

____________

AND….

Well, what’s the verdict?  The above is only a small sampling of

HOW FRACKED UP THIS BLOODY FASCIST KKKanada IS BECOMING!

STEPHEN HARPER –

WE ARE AFTER YOU!

I hope your flunkies at CSIS read this!  You do have employees who monitor the Internet, don’t you?  Hi CSIS staff, why don’t you save yourself some time, and JOIN THE REVOLUTION!

No, we WON’T assassinate Harper, Kenney, Oliver and their buds.  We may be tempted to tie them in chairs and force them to listen to a few speeches by Naomi Klein, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Vine Deloria, Jr., etc., and watch a few Rage Against the Machine videos, Avatar, Clearcut, Fight Club, War Party, the Milagro Beanfield War, The Corporation, etc.  But, hey, we respect humans as humans, and we will treat you with re-LOVE-utionary kindness!

But we will fight you peacefully, Gandhi – style.  We will use as one textbook Small Acts of Resistance.

Name of this new SOCIO-POLITICAL GROUP (NOT political party)?  Probably The Liberationists  –  Anti-Facist Patrol.

Sound good?

CSIS, CIA, Mossad, RCMP, City Police, etc. – YOU GOT THAT?

You’re gonna have a few 1000 Gandhis walking around.  Much more dangerous than Al Qaeda.  Any coward can use a weapon.  But not every man or woman can use LOVE as a weapon.

Better get a lot of equipment for tapping our phones, checking our Internet conversations, recording our every movement.  You had better go out, hire and train more staff.  You are going to need it.  And, oh yeah: you’re gonna have to have EXCELLENT training to prevent staff from defecting to us, the RE – LOVE – UTIONARIES.

A message to the Fascists in control of KKKanada, quoted from the last part of Killing In The Name Of by Rage Against The Machine’s Zack de la Rocha:

“F-word you, I won’t do what you tell me

F-word you, I won’t do what you tell me

F-word you, I won’t do what you tell me

F-word you, I won’t do what you tell me

F-word you, I won’t do what you tell me

F-word you, I won’t do what you tell me

F-word you, I won’t do what you tell me

F-word you, I won’t do what you tell me

F-WORD YOU, I WON’T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME

MOTHERF-WORDER

UGH!”

And here’s another good one:

You Can’t Kill the Revolution

[Maynard, the lead singer of the band Tool:]
Living on the street shores
He didn’t learn and wanted children
Said, “What is there left to stay alive for?”
He doesn’t wanna see it…

[Maynard:]
He didn’t wanna deal with it
Here they come, feelings that come as natural
Whatever left, he considered a loss, y’all
He doesn’t wanna see it…

[Maynard:]
Running away, getting some kinda cure
“What is there left to keep him alive?” she said
Give him your love, give him your love to save him
Give him your love, give him your love to save him

[Maynard:]
Give him your love, give him your love to save him
Don’t run away, give him your love to save him
Give him your love, give him your love to save him
Give him your love…

[Zack de la Rocha, lead rapper of Rage Against The Machine, 2x:]
You can kill the revolutionary
But you can’t kill the revolution

[Zack & Maynard 2x:]
You can kill the revolutionary
But you can’t kill the revolution

[Zack:]
Lies, negative indoctrination of our good selves
Promote feelings of such hopelessness, powerlessness
Suicide or a slower death from addiction
seemed to be the only way to stop the pain

[Maynard:]
Running…

[Zack:]
Lies, negative indoctrination of our good selves
Promote feelings of such hopelessness, powerlessness
Suicide or a slower death from addiction
seemed to be the only way to stop the pain

[Zack:]
Suicide seemed to be the only way to stop the pain
Suicide seemed to be the only way to stop the pain

[Zack 2x:]
You can kill the revolutionary
But you can’t kill the revolution

[Zack & Maynard 4x:]
You can kill the revolutionary
But you can’t kill the revolution

About sleepless in turtle island

Hi, I´m Dimitri. I have lived in Turtle Island for awhile now, so my cultural understanding is slowly improving. Also, I can see things in this place that boggle my mind. Thus this blog...

One Response to We Need a Revolution in Turtle Island (North America)

  1. Just for clarity…PKS wasn’t taken to court. They were fined by WorksafeBC.
    Kiewit ( PKS ) appealed the 250,000 dollar fine ( 13 minutes of the 2011 income )
    They lost the first appeal.
Just this week they have launched their second appeal ( on very weak grounds in my opinion )
Other than that, please keep on spreading the word
