Letter to an Atheist

As an ex-Evangelical who followed that system for 30 years, I was relieved to see the above-mentioned article, which I also made brief comments on in my own blog. Why I read your post on “Why Christianity Is False”, my own reason for leaving Christianity is not listed.

In a nutshell, I read history. I discovered that the Spanish, British, French & Dutch invaded the Americans and exterminated 90+% of all indigenous peoples. Some people estimate that North America had 34 million native peoples before Columbus brought his henchmen here (see Youtube video below).

This ongoing genocide of First Nations people is an indictment for ALL North Americans of whatever religious or ethnic background. But because Christianity has been the main ideology in support of bloodshed (both domestic and overseas), money-worship, destruction of the environment, etc, I would put most of the blame on Christians.

Bear in mind that atheists, agnostics or the non-religious also supported this system, which continues today with the US & Canadian governments, and the corporations who have now unshackled themselves from their host nations and operate transnationally. All of us are guilty of killing and oppressing native Americans, Americans, Iraqis, Afghanis etc.

But Christians are the worst. They have been at the forefront for the past 500+ years. And in the Sacred Scriptures, Jesus made it clear that people are to “love their neighbours as themselves”. This Golden Rule is binding on every human being, but especially those claiming to follow the Messiah. And because they do the OPPOSITE, obviously they and all those who partner with them are pure evil. Good intentions aside. These people are self-deluded into thinking that their gods of capitalism, war, bullying of indigenous peoples, and weaponry are right.

We’ll see about that. The wisest thing to do is to renounce genocide and oppression, and switch sides. Join with the ever-increasing struggling people and fight this corrupted, murderous system, including Stephen Harper, Barak Obama and the corporations who are running our society.
