Let’s Love Our Muslim Neighbours & Not Vilify Them

The way it should be & CAN be!

Today I found a website of a Christian ministry of a preacher who converted from Islam to Christianity.  On the site, he said:

“Our mission is to educate the Church about the danger of Islam and teach ways to win Muslims for Jesus Christ.”

So I wrote him an email and said the following:

Why do you see fit to “educate the Church about the danger of Islam”.  Which Church?  The one in Pakistan?  If it is, I’m sure everyone knows about Islam and Muslims.  The Church in the West?  Well, our churches are already racist and discriminatory against Muslims.  You do not have to teach non-Pakistani churches anything.  They already are disobeying Jesus by not loving their neighbours as themselves.  I live in Canada, and here there is increasing persecution of Muslims.  And the Christians are the ones who are often behind it, especially American Christian preachers and writers who try to teach the Canadian Church about how supposedly bad Muslims are.  In fact, I was in Evangelical churches for 30 years.  I studied about Islam during my Bachelor and Masters degree.  I even went to be a missionary in Asia for 5+ years.

All the Muslims I have known are kind, normal people who simply want to raise a good family and live a good life.  I don’t buy into all this American propaganda that Muslims are bad.  It’s usually based on hearsay, gossip and non-facts.  Christians should be putting in their energy to love their Muslim neighbours and build trust with them.  If you curse them, and blame Islam, why would they ever want to consider Jesus or the Bible?  And believe me, we Westerners have behaved terribly toward Muslims and many people of other religious and ethnic backgrounds.  All while claiming we love and serve Jesus.  Most of Western Christians are fake and will hear Jesus say, “Depart from Me, I never knew you” because we loved money, fame and political power more than Yahweh, and hated our non-Western neighbours.

I work with immigrants moving to the Vancouver, BC, Canada area, helping them with settlement and job finding.  Our centre includes an English school.  We have so many students from everywhere, including Iraq.  George Bush admitted once that “God told him to attack Iraq” (http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2005/10_october/06/bush.shtmlhttp://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2005/oct/07/iraq.usa).  UK leader at the time, Tony Blair, claimed that God was leading him in his decision to attack Iraq: “The former prime minister’s communications chief says that before the Iraq invasion Mr Blair was guided by his faith and regularly spoke to “his maker”. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-467175/Tony-Blair-talked-God-Iraq.html).  South African Bishop Desmond Tutu recently refused to share the stage with Tony Blair because of him and Bush invading Iraq based on a lie they sold to the world.  What kind of Satanic religion is this Western Christian philosophy?  To our shame, the majority of American Evangelicals supported Bush and Cheney and the Iraq War.  My school has many Iraqis, 70% Christians, who now cannot live in their homeland of 2000 years because U.S. and other foreign troops changed the peaceful situation Iraqis once had, and 30% Muslim.  Guess what?  The Iraqi Muslims and Christians get along great together.  Luckily, they don’t listen to anti-Muslim or anti-Christian propaganda.  They just treat each other like normal humans.

My point is, you and your website point out how some Muslims have been killing people, so why don’t you be honest and show where Christians have been killing people, including Muslims?  American Christians have been involved in killing Iraqis, Palestinians, etc.  And Western Christians for CENTURIES have been killing Jewish people, until the last 60 years when Jews have become popular.  All the prophets of the Old Testament and apostles an Jesus of the New Testament first pointed out the sins of the people who claimed to belong to God.  So you should be pointing out the Christians’ sins FIRST, not people of another religion.  Christians are supposed to be in the light, so why do they still kill?  For people in darkness it should be normal.

My conclusion is that Western Christianity is a fake religion, and has nothing to do with true Biblical faith.  1 John says that murderers have no eternal life in them, so we Westerners are far from God, despite claiming to have the truth.  Do not follow us.  We are headed to Hell, including all these American and Canadian churches who vote for dictators like Bush and Cheney in the U.S. and Stephen Harper in Canada.  These politicians are using religion as their tool to gain wealth and power.

Thank you for reading this.  I will defend Muslims, atheists, Jews, Sikhs, Buddhists, agnostics, Christians, and everyone else who is being victimised for their beliefs.  There is one American preacher who agrees with me: http://www.skyejethani.com/why-i-defend-muslims/1145/  where he says: “We cannot, and should not, demand that everyone share our beliefs. But we can, and should, demand that everyone share our freedom.”

God gives everyone free will and doesn’t force them to follow Him or His ways.  We should give people freedom to.  Then they will feel more comfortable to listen to the truth from our lips.

PS – Let’s see if and how this preacher answers my e-mail!

Why should followers of Christ love Muslims?

  1. God loves Muslims!
Muslims are loved by God in the same way that He loves all people. Like all humans, Muslims are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Like all humans, Muslims sin and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Like all humans, God loved them so much that He sent His son, so that those who believe in Jesus will have eternal life (John 3:16).
  2. God calls Muslims to Himself!
God designed all of us to seek after Him. That includes Muslims. “From one man, He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth”, …God did this so men would seek Him and perhaps reach out to Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:24-31, espec. 26,30).” Like you and I, God has placed “eternity in their hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11).”
  3. The only good Muslims … are most Muslims.
The media tends to picture Muslims as wild-eyed terrorists who want to bomb America and kill all Christians. The overwhelming majority of Muslims are peace-loving, hospitable people.
    (See “Are most Muslims terrorists?“)
  4. Muslims are people, too!
Most Muslims are concerned about the same things as you and I. They want to raise their children well, they are concerned about rising crime and pornography, and work hard to pay their bills and survive. Like us, most Muslims decry human suffering and violence between peoples. Many Muslims yearn for peace, friendship, and a happy life. We share the same concerns and needs.
  5. God is at work among Muslims!
Many Muslims are sensitive to God and spiritual things. Because they fear God and are aware of spiritual reality, Muslims often speak of how God appeared to them through dreams and visions, just like He did to the God-fearer Cornelius (Acts 10:1-8). Stories abound of healings because of God’s power through Jesus. An increasing number of Muslims are hungry to know about God’s dramatic work through Jesus.
  6. Because we are spiritually related.
Many Muslims look to ‘Ibrahim (Abraham) as “our forefather (Romans 4:1).” Since those who follow Jesus call Abraham “the father of all who believe (Romans 4:11),” that makes us ‘cousins’! Like us, Muslims believe in one true God, the Creator of all peoples.
  7. Because they value our Holy Book and Jesus.
The Q’uran specifically commends the Torat (books of the Law, the first five books of the Bible); the Zibur (the Psalms, or wisdom literature); and the injil (the Gospels). Jesus was sent by God to earth; Jesus healed many during his ministry; and he is returning to judge the living and the dead.
  8. Because they have something to teach us.
Muslims take the spiritual world very seriously and generally are more open to discuss spiritual issues. They have a very high respect for God and His power. Muslims place a high value on community and loyalty. Hospitality is very important to them. These are qualities that most westerners appreciate in their Muslim friends.
  9. God made promises to their ancestors.
Many Muslims look to ‘Ibrahim (Abraham) as their descendant through his first son, Ishmael. God made this promise to Ibrahim: “As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and I will make him fruitful, and I will multiply him. He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation (Genesis 17:20).” God fulfilled this promise, for there are over one billion Muslims in the world today!
  10. Because God promised that Muslims who follow Jesus will be part of the multitudes who are gathered about the Throne of God.
When God gathers all His people at the end of time, there will be representatives from every people group on the earth, “from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing before the Throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, …crying out in a loud voice, ‘Salvation to our God who sits on the throne… (Revelation 7:9,10)!”
